A LibGuides page; Great Reads has been created to assist parents in promoting good books to their boys by providing access to a range of resources that promote recreational reading. The main page provides links to a variety of online audio and eBooks that are freely available. The guide also provides links to online book reviewing sites and promotes two print books about great reads that are available from the Stephens Library. To further assist parents of students in Years 3 to 6, recommendations of riveting books made by the Hutchins library staff and students are also available and are organized by genre for students of various reading abilities. If you have a parent requesting book recommendations for their son, feel free to direct them to this Guide.

Some of the resources accessible from the guide could potentially be useful for use within the classroom. We Give Books, provides quality fiction and non-fiction eBooks useful for displaying on a smart board.  The International Children’s Library is a large database of online stories, ideal for making global connections. The page also provides access to documents that provides lists of books recommended for use in different curriculum areas.

The Great Reads guide is accessible from the Stephens Library LibGuides page for Junior School.
